‘Overdue’ — lostboy — Single review

Delivering a thumping, pounding energy fit for arenas, lostboy returns, wielding the wildly racing new single, ‘Overdue’. It’s an indie-rocker’s dream, with an anthemic nature that’s unpacked as a network of shredding riffs, stabbing drums and yearning vocals. Intriguingly, the lyrics are more simplistic and matter-of-fact than the loaded, bombastic sound suggests. Certainly a slick twist. This may well be my favourite tune of lostboy’s.

The Sheffield-based artist is invariably included on Spotify editorial playlists and plugged by the BBC Introducing, Radio X, Amazing Radio and more, which should come as no surprise upon hearing their boundlessly captivating material. Although ‘Kid’ and ‘Maple’ were historically in the driving seat for lostboy’s catchy offerings, ‘Overdue’ hits differently indeed.

Do yourself a favour and get streaming this absolute ripper with haste on Spotify and other platforms now.
