‘Out of Time’ — Alba Fury — Single review

It’s always a joy getting new music submissions to the inbox, but it’s even more exciting when it’s a cool post-punk number. And a debut single at that. Cue Alba Fury and their hot-off-the-press ‘Out of Time’, a gritty, alternative/indie belter straight out of Leith.

The atmospheric tune has driving riffs and a rhythm section to match, with course vocals that have this excellent clarity, too. So much so, you’ll find yourself drawing comparisons to offerings from other Scottish exports of the same genre, including Gallus and Snash. The songwriting’s on point as well; although the notion behind it is one of time being finite, which is a pretty sobering concept, it actually conjures up life-affirming feelings.

‘Out of Time’ was partially recorded in Aberdeen, while the rest was done in Edinburgh. And rather handily, their bassist, Jamie, doubles as their producer. So Alba Fury certainly have their house in order. I’m looking forward to hearing what comes next from them!

In the meantime, be smart now and head to your chosen streaming platform to give this brand-new bop a spin.
