‘Divide’ — Drella — Single review

Following on from their EP, ‘Silence’, that dropped in January, Bradford three-piece Drella return with ‘Divide’, a song that unites its listeners’ ears in concluding its excellence.

The whopping, bass-forward punk tune is a protesting piece that wouldn’t be out of place on a Monakis or Kid Kapichi record, yet it retains all its usual angsty Drella hallmarks.

It was produced by Ady Hall and Lee McCarthy of Sugar House Music (who’ve worked with Corella and VENUS GRRRLS) for maximum oomph. And as it raises the concerns attributed with economic struggles in their home city, that makes it even more supercharged and introspective. So it’s no wonder ‘Divide’ made ‘Track of the Week’ on BBC Introducing in West Yorkshire.

Do the right thing this Friday and give the new single a good old spin ASAP here.
