Leeds’ music scene is bustling, and another act hoping to tap into 2023 in a big way is The Avelles. Come and say hi…

RECORD WEEKLY’S INTERVIEW WITH THE AVELLES
Hey guys, how are you?
We’re all good, keeping busy with the band and work.
How’s 2023 been treating you so far?
It’s been quality! We’ve been working on some tunes in the studio, and we’ve got two massive gigs booked supporting The Lilacs and Trampolene, and the release of our new single was great.
Ah yes, so how’s ‘10:45’ been received so far then?
It’s been received really well! It’s had loads of airtime, including BBC Introducing plays, and this week, the single received ‘Track of the Day’ from This Feeling.
Fantastic! So, talk us through how and where you met.
We all went to the same school. Joe, Ethan and Charlie were in the same year and we got together making ‘lockdown covers’, which were posted online. Pat saw them and asked if we needed a drummer, and then Joe recruited his brother, Will, on bass.
What are your favourite things about your local music scene?
There’s a real sense of community. A lot of the bands we’ve played with support what we do, and the range of venues themselves is class.
Speaking of, which are your three top venues to play in Leeds, including ones you might not yet have played?
Got to be Lending Room, Oporto and Brudenell (where we’re playing in April).
Can you share any other upcoming news teasers?
We’ve got a few tracks ready to push out now, so who knows? It may form into a bit of an EP…
