‘Golden Sophism’ — Glasgow — Single review

You’ll be used to seeing bands from Glasgow on Record Weekly, but this artist under review uses the Scottish city as their name. Glasgow is a project headed up by Marcos Del Moral, who actually hails from Puerto Rico.

A first single from the outfit has been long overdue, given the band’s formation was in its infancy in 2018. But now, here we have it, the jangly, giddy indie debut, ‘Golden Sophism’. Oh, and it’s a banger.

This upbeat tune nails a pacy drum beat, steady chords and even token muted-string riffs, with trumpets and a cowbell in the mix for good measure. It just begs to be played in the spring-turns-summer sunshine — entirely fitting for the current vibe in the UK.
