Live at Leeds: In the Park 2025 preview

It feels like summer truly begins when the clock strikes Live at Leeds: In the Park*. The second May bank holiday hinges on festival vibes, as Hanglands’ major all-dayer lures city slickers out into the ‘burbs for a rural resplendence of the musical variety. And this year, it means another chance to gleefully see The Amazons for Team RW. But what else is in store?

The key details

  • Saturday 24th May 2025
  • Temple Newsam Estate
  • Kick-off time: Gates open from 12pm

The unmissable artists

This should go without saying, but your evening at the event needs to be clear for Bloc Party. And the scheduling gods will make it that way, respectfully, because it doesn’t get much bigger than these indie giants. And they’ll be celebrating 20 years since their debut album to boot. I might cry with nostalgic joy. Don’t laugh — it’s a real, bucket-lister for the diary, so tears are a possibility. And I absolutely can’t wait, personally.

Finishing a close second in the excitement stakes, it’s The Amazons. A band I can’t seem to get my fill of — there’s always an underlying urge in my head to listen to them, to their credit. So bring on their set, and it’ll of course come after the release of their fourth studio album, ‘21st Century Fiction’. Cue the incessant screaming.

Pop fans new and old will want to turn out for the ethereal Sigrid and noughties icon Natasha Bedingfield. They’re revered for ‘Strangers’ and ‘Unwritten’ in particular, respectively. If you’re into your chaotic, frantic, avant-garde indie rock, Alex Rice’s mighty Sports Team will have you bopping all the way down the hill in seconds. And returning to the park will be Glasgow’s resident popular princes, The Snuts

Rising acts in the rock spheres are obviously the fabulously named Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, who I’ve never managed to catch before, but are raring to go. And there’ll be Fat Dog, an outfit I’ll be glad to witness again, after their recent injection of well-earned hype.

The festival perks to look forward to

Quite simply, the food, the sun (hopefully) and the handy shuttle bus system to make life more convenient are three of the other, less obvious things I’m buzzing about. This festival is a calendar mainstay for countless reasons, after all.
