2025 is in full swing for a lot of bands right now, and one such outfit is Pit Pony. With an album due soon, too, vocalist Jackie Purver had lots to update us on. Read all the latest now.
Hey guys, how’s it going? How’s 2025 treating you so far?
We’re good thanks. Well, 2024 passed without us yet again playing our cover of The Waitresses’ (and Spice Girls’) ‘Christmas Wrapping’ live, but maybe 2025 will be the year!
Haha we hope so! For now, congrats on sharing news of your upcoming album — how are you feeling about it?
We’re really pleased to get it out into the world for everyone to hear, but I suppose also a little nervous; we just hope everyone enjoys it. We’re super-proud of it.
What else are you most looking forward to this year? Is there a bucket list?
We have lots of gigs lined up this year, which is great, and at some places we’ve not played before. Places like The Jacaranda [in Liverpool] and Sneaky Pete’s [in Edinburgh] are where we’ve seen some of our favourite bands play, so it feels good to get to take on those ourselves.

Thinking back to 2024 quickly, what were your standouts on and off the stage?
We didn’t actually play many shows last year, but I’d definitely say doing Light Years Festival at Newcastle’s Boiler Shop back in June was just a really lovely day. Great venue, run by fab people, with a well-organised show and a line-up of equally brilliant artists. We got to play and then watch the likes ĠENN and Pigs x7 before getting home at a reasonable hour. What’s not to like!?
Off-stage, I’d say physically seeing our album on vinyl for the first time was a highlight. We’re sooo happy with how it’s come together as a physical package, and then having our track ‘Cut Open’ featured on BBC Radio 6 Music’s Roundtable. It could’ve gone either way and we were nervous listening in, but thankfully Liz Lawrence and Alex Kapranos said some really lovely things about it.
If you could curate a festival, who would your ultimate three headliners be?
Questions like this always make me think of when me and Garth went to Hop Farm Festival in 2011 and we saw Patti Smith, Lou Reed and Iggy Pop all in one evening. I don’t think that’ll ever be beaten for me.
Anything else you’d like to share with readers while we’ve got you?
We’re touring in April and super-excited to get out and about again. We’re playing Edinburgh, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Newport, Halifax, London and Liverpool. We’ll also be announcing more dates for later in the year, so keep an eye out there. Other than that, we’d just encourage everyone to check out the album — especially on vinyl, as it’s beautiful in the flesh with all the artwork.
As eager to hear the new tunes and catch Pit Pony live as we are? We don’t blame you. Until then, give them a follow on Instagram to stay in the loop.
