‘Be Quiet and Slide (Wet Christmas)’ — Wolforna — Single review

Wolforna have had a very busy year, but not too busy that they couldn’t sneak in recording a Christmas song. Enter ‘Be Quiet and Slide (Wet Christmas)’, a joyful, satirical track offering light relief from a playlist otherwise centred on Slade.

While Wham! were defrosting and Bublé was banished, they took their instrumental inspiration from Shakin’ Stevens, studded it with their own reworked lyrics — plus some from ‘Santa Baby’ — and hey presto: a heavy-rock Frankenstein for the festive period. It’s all been playfully curated with pretty cheeky, mistletoe-thrusting themes, and it descends into Deftones-esque anarchy. Some melodic “oohs” give token Foo Fighters feels towards the end, too.

The real treat, though, is the accompanying video on YouTube and Instagram; a home-movie-style wrap-up of clips from throughout the lads’ year. It features behind-the-scenes gig footage, moments with pals, and some snow. It’s a Christmas tune, after all.
