Gritty, grungy, groaning — Drella are back with quite possibly their bounciest tune to date. The Bradford trio have the hallmarked seal of approval from BBC Radio 1, Planet Rock and Amazing Radio, and the brand-new ‘All The Same’ should continue to propel them into the ears of many more.
Quite simply, the tune explores the band’s disgruntlement about post-election Britain; nothing’s changed so far since the governmental reins were seized, and it doesn’t appear to be heading in a rosier direction either. This angle naturally works well for their consistent political rhetoric, though it maintains a witty, satirical side that’s buoyantly kept afloat by the surging punk-rock riffs Drella are known for. That said, there’s a funkier bass sound here, though, which is a new take for the three-piece. And there are some hip-hop vibes as a result of those pacy drums.
The song lands just a day before their October tour kicks off, which will see a nice send-off for the lads in London on the 26th. But you can catch them before then in Leeds on the 24th, supporting none other than DZ Deathrays.
For now, give ‘All The Same’ a listen and you’ll soon feel inclined to ask, “what’s so great about this island?”, too.
