‘Your Tongue, My Teeth’ — Wolforna — Single review

I’ve heard the fruits of Wolforna pushing boundaries before. But never like this. The Bradford-based four-piece are finally back, with their first single of 2024.

‘Your Tongue, My Teeth’ is the embodiment of a chilling track. With heavy rock at its core, of course, you can expect thunderous drums, meaty riffs and haunting vocals, all tied up into a neat narrative designed to traverse the notion of a mysterious transformation. A vampire bite, maybe? An abduction? An encounter from the devil? They say its inspiration derived from Stephen King’s ‘’Salem’s Lot’, but they’ve also deliberately and playfully left it up to your imagination and interpretation. I, for one, think this very cool, something-lurks-in-the-shadows style is a fun piece of writing from Wolforna — and it nicely raises curiosity about what could be to come.

And there’s no denying, if you thought they were heavy before, the bone-crunching guitars, quirky, unsettling solos and tight-as-anything rhythm section just raised the bar. And you can detect some token Queens of the Stone Age-esque seductiveness, too.

So you’d better prep yourself in readiness for what else is to come from these boys. But in the meantime, ‘Your Tongue, My Teeth’ deserves some serious playlist-rinsing. Thank me for the tip later.
