‘The Longer I Hold You’ — Majesty Palm — Single review

Whether you were at Glastonbury or you had to settle for bopping around the TV at home, you might’ve been enjoying a bit of Dua Lipa last weekend. So, in her absence now, let me direct you to something fans of hers will go nuts for — the new single from Majesty Palm.

‘The Longer I Hold You’ lands just prior to the band’s TRNSMT set, and it begins with those trademark soft, soulful vocals and a gentle drum beat that fades in, bursting inevitably into a full dance anthem in the making. Here, you not only have undeniable catchiness, but old-school electronics coated in a modern-era pop veneer. Ooh, it’s just begging for Radio 1 airtime! There’s a fun frivolity to the upbeat nature of this song, yet you just know how much time has been poured into the piece by this hardworking outfit.

The fortunate ones among you readers will have festival tickets that’ll secure you a performance of theirs. And I’m jealous. But otherwise, this here is a belter for everybody to get spinning immediately. Let the weekend vibes commence.
