‘Borderline’ — Majesty Palm — Single review

Here we have ‘Borderline’, the latest badass ballad from Cameron and Olivia — AKA Majesty Palm. Fan of Dua Lipa? You’ll want to hike up the volume on this…

Having won this year’s SAMA ‘Best Newcomer’ award and recently performed as one of the finalists at BBC Introducing’s Scottish Act of the Year 2024 competition showcase, this duo are having a wildly fun time of it — and this fresh track is their latest bid. They’ve been soaring from one accolade to another since their career began, and it’s also culminated in the announcement of their first ever TRNSMT slot, this summer.

On this freshly released tune, dream-pop synths and modulated guitars play to a pulsating beat. It’s slower than some of their previously landed grooves, but there’s a soft, genteel style being harnessed here — to their credit. There’s not only evident gleaned inspiration from the likes of The Blue Nile and Holly Humberstone, but it’s so clear there’s been some extra growth in their sound and production, too. So it’s about time you gave it a listen.
