Bradford alt rock/punk trio Drella are entering the room loud and proud, once again, thought now with cutting-edge new track, ‘Guillotine’. Here you have a thumping, uptempo, Black Stone Cherry-style opening riff that steals the show. Then, all the carnage of those raucous drums kicks into gear, revealing a layer of sharp, politically motivated lyrics on top.
While it was produced by Sugar House Music, don’t be fooled into thinking it has a sweetness — this latest offering is a fiery, punchy one, satirically documenting nationwide problems with the wealthy and in-control, that’ll rally some serious mosh pits live. You’ll no doubt be singing along to “It’s a sacrifice and I’m paying the price” in no time. Although Britain has been souring on its party in parliament for quite a stint now, this tune about divisiveness is nothing but capable of bringing folks together.
Is this their best to date? I’d say, quite possibly indeed. But the only way to be sure whether you agree or not is to give it a spin, and make sure you’re at their single-release gig at The Underground, Bradford tomorrow night (Saturday 23rd March 2024).
