Live at Leeds: In the City 2023 preview

Who said festival season was over? It’s October, which means the annual instalment of Live at Leeds: In the City is upon us! The multi-venue showcase will deliver an influx of talent, both emerging and more seasoned, to various stages, and the fabulous Hanglands team* have been at the helm for the first time ever.

So, in order to get you suitably warmed up for the day’s action on Saturday 14th, I’ve put together a bucket-list-style whip-round of all the things Record Weekly’s looking forward to most…

  • Witnessing Wunderhorse perform ‘The Leader of the Pack’ is right up there. For me, they’re my as-yet-unseen headliner.
  • Bradford boys, Drella, will be hitting the fabulous Sela bar in the afternoon, and supporting them over a cocktail is a Record Weekly essential.
  • Naturally, I’ll be buzzing to catch Kid Kapichi for the fifth time, and SNAYX for the third! Alt rock royalty right there.
  • Cheering on Lucky Iris, one of the winners of the festival’s ‘apply to play’ competition, may well be my first port of call.
  • Ticking off sets from rising bands such as Corella and Porij is naturally a must.
  • I plan to flail my arms in the air for fellow southerners, Crystal Tides
  • Enjoying some punk goodness from Shame is something I’ve wanted to do for a while now, so bring it on!
  • Maths isn’t my strong suit, but Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs? That’s seven lots of metal mayhem I’m very game for.
  • Lynks, who returns to the festival after appearing with Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes in 2021, will no doubt be laying on the party vibes.

There are so, so many reasons to make sure your eyes and ears are present at 2023’s Live at Leeds: In the City, so mark my words; the above is just a handful of the unmissable perks of attending. Roll on the event, and clear your diary!
