‘Jaded’ — Yutaniii — Single review

A celebration of synth-soaked post-punk, Yutaniii’s new single, ‘Jaded’, is a jaunty helping of goodness straight from Leeds. With a tight rhythm, drums you can’t help but nod along to and quirky, on-the-nose vocals, it’s a must-listen for everyone from discerning Yard Act fans to Idles die-hards.

The five-piece is a local outfit that’s graced several of the city’s stages now, though they continue to be Royal Park Cellars and Belgrave favourites. And while ‘The Tesseract’ has proved their most popular tune so far through its otherworldly pitches that pierce into Sci-Fi-soundtrack territory, I’d confidently posit that the scuzzier, more uptempo ‘Jaded’ is exactly what the band needs to push them to the next level.

Their niche has always been their genre-bending style, yet this latest slice of their material is brasher and more aligned with punk sounds, so it’s certainly one for your alt rock playlists. Give it a spin on Spotify now!
