‘Nothing To Lose’ — Drella — Single review

The unapologetically loud Bradford trio, Drella, are surging back with an almighty follow-up to previous single, ‘Divide’, which rightfully garnered plays on BBC Radio 1 and Radio 6 Music. Now here with ‘Nothing To Lose’ — a smack-in-the-face tune navigating the themes of police failure and public disdain for power structures — they’re on course to gain all the clout again.

While challenging politics through the medium of punk is no new concept, it’s always a bold step, yet Drella have pulled it off so well. Fierce, punchy yet melodic riffs through combined lead guitar and bass efforts, underpinned by thudding drums, is just how the three-piece rolls, but that blueprint is even more deftly stuck to and served up on this latest song.

Plus, it’s another offering from their collaboration with Ady Hall and Lee McCarthy of Sugar House Music (Corella, VENUS GRRRLS, Viola Beach), which is clearly going swimmingly. Ready to give it a spin? You bloody bet you are. Listen here.
