At a time when artists are producing ten-a-penny pop, catchy chord progressions and hooks with scuzzy pedal effects, few bands are really bringing us completely new sounds. Breaking the mould here, though, is Leeds’ Wolforna, a four-piece that never fail to set a room alight when they play live, and deliver the sort of fierce rock music you wish you’d written yourself. 

Back with their second single of 2023, amid a busy June of festival slots and the odd headline show, ’22 Degrees & Sunny’ is a triumph for the boys. The endearingly deep, dark nature of its thumping riffs is noteworthy enough, but it’s the Deftones-style, breathy vocals and arabesque guitar solo that really flood this track with its uniqueness. 

There’s a punchy swagger to its pace, and you’re left with the lyrics embedded in your brain for hours on end after playing it. While superseding the whopping 18,000-plus streams ‘Break You’ garnered might be some feat, this tune is the definition of hot — as its title alludes to — so it’s bound to be a firm favourite.
